Second Grade

In math this year, your second grader will be able to add and subtract two digit numbers quickly and accurately. Second graders also needs to understand what each digit means in a three digit number in order to solve addition and subtraction word problems. Students should achieve mastery of addition and subtraction by the end of the year. In reading, second graders are learning important skills for reading, writing, speaking, and listening this year. Students practice new strategies for figuring out unknown words and they use writing as a way to practice these words and express their ideas.
