Equity and Inclusion

Equity and Inclusion

The Asheboro City Schools District Equity Team was formed in 2016 with a vision of empowering learners and leaders to embrace diversity and ensure equity. Each month the team convenes with the following mission statements in mind so that all students have equitable access to opportunity, support, and resources.

  • Ensure learners and leaders are seen, heard, and valued.
  • Provide resources and training to support growth and development regarding equity and social justice.
  • Engage in data-based problem solving with the goal of ensuring equity and access for all students.
  • Advocate and actively promote the advancement of equitable practices in all aspects of our work and as an essential factor related to school and district improvement.
  • Foster a caring, compassionate connected community.
  • Engage in focused problem-solving related to inequitable outcomes occurring on the basis of race.

Asheboro City schools will:
  • Ensure learners and leaders are seen, heard, and valued.
  • Provide resources and training to support growth and development regarding equity and social justice.
  • Engage in data-based problem solving with the goal of ensuring equity and access for all students.

ACS Equity Statement

Equity Statement:
Asheboro City Schools denounces racism. We are committed to treating all people as equals with respect and dignity at all times. We recognize that our differences don’t divide us, but make us stronger. While we know there is much work to do, the district’s Equity Team and the Race and Equity board policy were created to promote and encourage racial equity and social justice through education, reflection, partnerships, engagement, and advocacy.
