ACS Announces Administrative Changes

May 13, 2024 – Asheboro City Schools has announced the transfer of multiple principals and assistant principals within the district for the upcoming school year. The Asheboro City Board of Education approved these changes at their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, May 9. New principals will start the school year at the following schools: Balfour Elementary, Guy B. Teachey Elementary, Lindley Park Elementary, Charles W. McCrary Elementary, and South Asheboro Middle School (SAMS).

Mrs. Julie Brady, current principal at SAMS, has been selected to be in charge of the Asheboro City School Global Innovation Center and innovative work across the district. Mrs. Brady is a veteran principal in our district serving McCrary Elementary as both assistant principal and principal beginning in 2008. Her wealth of knowledge and experience as a school administrator will provide strong direction for the programs of the Innovation Center.

Mrs. Ann Evans, current principal at Teachey Elementary, will be overseeing secondary math instruction for the district. Mrs. Evans first joined the district in 2009 as a math teacher at Asheboro High School. Since then, she has held administrative roles at McCrary and Teachey Elementary. We believe her administrative background, strong knowledge of math curriculum, and extensive experience in developing professional learning opportunities will enhance classroom instruction in math across our secondary schools.

Nikia Domally, the current principal at Lindley Park Elementary, has been named as the new principal of Balfour Elementary. Domally began her career as an educator with ACS in 2004. She taught Spanish at Asheboro High School, served as assistant principal at South Asheboro Middle School, and has been the principal at Lindley Park since 2016. She is an NC Teaching and Principal Fellow and holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Elon University and a master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. With her experience, we know that she will provide strong leadership for the team at Balfour.

Teachey Elementary will be welcoming a new principal, Jordan Seagraves. Seagraves is the current assistant principal at Loflin Elementary where he has served in that role since 2021. Seagraves has a strong instructional background with previous experience as a curriculum facilitator and classroom teacher. While teaching, he was named Teacher of the Year in 2018-2019. Mr. Seagraves is data-driven with strengths in collaborating with adults to disaggregate data to drive instruction. He believes that all students should have the opportunity to learn and have high expectations.

Keisha Dawalt, assistant principal at North Asheboro Middle School since 2021, will become the new principal of Lindley Park Elementary. Before NAMS, Dawalt was the assistant principal for three years and the Instructional Facilitator for three years at Balfour Elementary. She also spent several years as a teacher at McCrary Elementary, has served on school improvement teams as both a member and as chair, and has completed numerous leadership programs.

Kelly Patton will become the principal at McCrary where she has been assistant principal since 2022. Patton is a veteran educator who joined ACS in 2016 as an Academically Gifted teacher. During her career, Patton has served as a lead teacher, AVID Coordinator, and instructional facilitator. She also has experience as a testing coordinator, leadership chair, and beginning teacher mentor. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from UNC Greensboro. Her professionalism and strong instructional background make her a great leader to take on this role.

South Asheboro Middle School will be the new home for principal, Chris Burian. Burian, current principal of McCrary Elementary, has been an educator with ACS since 2006 and received the school-level Teacher of the Year award in 2011 and the district-level Teacher of the Year in 2015. He has served in administrative roles at Balfour Elementary, Lindley Park Elementary, North Asheboro Middle School, and Loflin Elementary, and has been the principal at McCrary Elementary since 2021. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from West Liberty University and a master’s degree in executive leadership from Gardner Webb University. Mr. Burian continues to demonstrate his educational leadership and we are excited to have him join the SAMS team.
