The Asheboro City Board of Education was pleased to welcome Mr.
Art Martinez during a virtual swearing in ceremony led by Chairman of the
Randolph County Commissioners, Mr. Darryl Frye, on Tuesday, April 7. Mr.
Martinez was appointed to fill the board vacancy of Mrs. Joyce Harrington, who
resigned in February. Mr. Martinez will fill the position until this November.
At that time, he may run for a six-year term on the Asheboro City Board of
Education.
Mr.
Martinez is an engaged and well-respected member of the Asheboro community. As
a local entrepreneur for the past 14 years, he understands the value of hard
work and effective leadership. He has served in a number of leadership roles
for organizations in Asheboro and Randolph County including: the
Asheboro-Randolph Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Randolph County, the
Randolph-Asheboro YMCA, First United Methodist Church, Randolph Friends of the
Zoo, and the Randolph Arts Guild. His most important role, however, is husband
to wife, Brooke, and dad to Maxton and Gabi. Maxton and Gabi both attend
Lindley Park Elementary School and are in the Dual Language Immersion
program.
“We are pleased to have Mr. Martinez join our board,” said Chairman of the Asheboro City Board of Education, Mrs. Gidget Kidd. “He brings a unique and fresh perspective to the board and we know he will be a great asset for the students, staff, and community we serve.”
