Asheboro City Schools Announces Ribbon Cutting and Open House for Asheboro High School
Asheboro City Schools leadership plans to celebrate the completion of the renovation project at Asheboro High School with a ribbon cutting ceremony along with local dignitaries, media, and special guests on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 beginning at 1:30 pm. In addition, the public is invited to an Open House with tours of the building on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2-5 pm.
Construction of the current Asheboro High School on Park Street began in 1949 and opened for students beginning with the 1950-1951 school year. Current renovations preserves key historical elements of the building and features upgraded finishes, technology, heating and cooling, safety, accessibility, and furniture. The building also features a 37,670 sq ft addition with 14 new classrooms finished and dedicated in September 2020. The $55 million addition and renovation was possible because of the generous support from the Randolph County Commissioners. Their support allowed for the creation of a state-of-the-art learning facility with new and fully renovated classroom spaces, a multi-purpose commons area, expanded space for our cultural arts programs, and increased capacity needs.
Both the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday and Open House on Sunday will be held at the Asheboro High School Park Street entrance, located at 1221 S Park Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
