Reports
Allison
Schafer with the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) presented a
report on the survey results collected from members of the community and staff
of Asheboro City Schools. In her report she highlighted various leadership
qualities of most importance to stakeholders taking the survey. She facilitated
a discussion with the board to develop a leadership profile that the board may
use in the search for the new ACS superintendent.
Special
Recognitions
The
Asheboro City Board of Education recognized the Randolph County Public Library as
the spotlighted April Community Partner. Library staff have supported families
at Charles W. McCrary Elementary School by providing childcare for the youngest
McCrary Mustangs. Ms. Ann Pryblowski and her staff bring books, board games,
and activities to engage our youngest children, while families meet with their
student’s teachers in the classroom. In the words of McCrary principal, Ms.
Julie Brady, “the library is our greatest childcare partner and we could not
have had as much success with our Academic Family Teacher Team (AFTT) nights
without their partnership.”
The
board spotlight featured professional development that has taken place at
Charles W. McCrary Elementary School this past school year. Based on feedback gathered from the Teacher Working Conditions
survey, professional development was an area for the school to improve. This
year, the school has engaged in professional learning opportunities each month
focusing on a number of subject areas. Administrators have received positive
feedback from their teachers thanks to this endeavor.
