ACS to Partner to Host SAT/ACT Prep Program

Plans are under way to hold a second series of classes to prepare students for the SAT/ACT for college applications.

The SAT pretest will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 9 a.m.-noon at Central School, 621 Frank St., Asheboro. During the pretest, there will be a parent session to provide parents and guardians with full details on the program.

The first series of SAT classes was held during the fall of 2019, with 10 students graduating on Dec. 14. Test scores improved by as much as 140 points from pretest to post-test.

Teachers for the program must go through training by NC A&T State University professors. Classes are held Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon with breakfast served at 8:30 a.m. The course is free to any students in grades 10-12 but they must apply to be entered.

Details on the SAT/ACT class as well as online applications can be accessed at http://www.coachmurphycamps.com. Seats are limited so applicants should register soon.

The last class will be on April 4 and graduation is April 18 at the George Washington Carver Community Enrichment Center (GWCCEC). Sponsors include the Russell E. Murphy Sr. Youth Camps, Asheboro City Schools, East Side Improvement Association and GWCCEC.
