Asheboro
High School Renovation and Expansion ProjectASHEBORO – On Saturday, the Asheboro City Board of Education met for their winter retreat in the Professional Development Center, located on the campus of Asheboro High School. During the meeting, board members met with architects from Smith Sinnett Architecture to discuss the planning and development phases of the Asheboro High School renovation and expansion project.
“We’re
extremely pleased with the work that’s being done behind the scenes to make the
renovation, repair, and expansion project at Asheboro High School a reality,”
said Dr. Terry W. Worrell, Superintendent for Asheboro City Schools. “Our team
has worked tirelessly with the architects at Smith Sinnett and the Randolph
County Commissioners to create a solution that will meet the needs of our
growing student body at Asheboro High School. A rendering of the proposal will
be available for the community to view tomorrow night at the State of Our
Schools event. This opportunity allows us to continue our rich tradition of
excellence by preserving the original Asheboro High School building and to add
a state-of-the-art addition that will continue to serve students for many years
to come,” she added.
The new
addition will include a multi-use commons space, approximately 15 classrooms
for a number of subject areas, an expanded band area to foster growth in the
performing arts program, and a few landscaped courtyard spaces for students to
study and work in groups. “The new addition promises to offer easy
accessibility, multi-use areas, and new classrooms to support the number of
innovative programs at Asheboro High School,” said Dr. Worrell.
The project
will be ready to begin in the summer of 2018.
