Asheboro High School Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Friday, November 2, the Asheboro community is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new addition at Asheboro High School. The event will take place at 4 p.m. on the grounds of Asheboro High School. The Asheboro City Board of Education and district administrators are excited to share this momentous event with the local community.

“After years of research and planning, we are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to add on to our original Asheboro High School building. Through generous support from the Randolph County Commissioners and our local community, the addition will allow us to create a state-of-the-art learning facility with new classrooms, a multi-purpose commons area, expanded room for our cultural arts programs, and will help us address our capacity needs,” said Superintendent Dr. Terry Worrell. “We attribute this project to the hard work and dedication of our Board of Education, district leaders, and community partners. We are humbled and so grateful for this opportunity to provide the best educational facilities to our well-deserving students.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will feature several guest speakers including Superintendent, Dr. Terry Worrell; Chairman of the Asheboro City Board of Education, Mr. Kyle Lamb; Chairman of the Randolph County Commissioners, Mr. David Allen; architects from Smith-Sinnett Architecture, Mr. John Sinnett and Ms. Rhonda Angerio; general contractor of J.M. Thompson Construction, Mr. Dickie Thompson; Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance, Mr. Harold Blair; Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Mr. Michael Mize; and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Aaron Woody.

The addition is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. To learn more about the Asheboro High School renovation and expansion project, please contact the Central Office by calling (336) 625-5104.
