Teachey Celebrates Hour of Code
Student learning about binary code.
Teachey enjoyed fun with coding during “Hour of Code” last week. Teachers were encouraged to incorporate coding and computer science within their lessons, and students participated in coding lessons and “unplugged” activities during Media time. Students in grades K-1 learned about algorithms and created algorithm coding games. Students in grades 2-5 learned about computer programing and coding language and had fun encoding messages using Binary Code. Students in 2- 3 created binary bookmarks. Fourth graders created binary initial bracelets, and fifth graders created seasonal ornaments or bracelets.

During extended planning, grade levels enjoyed coding games and activities found on the “Hour of Code” website. Favorites included Dance Party, Minecraft, Star Wars, and Frozen.
