ACS Honors Outstanding Teachers

Schools Prepare to Honor Outstanding Teachers

ASHEBORO - Asheboro City Schools will honor several of their outstanding teachers on Tuesday, May 8 during the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at Pinewood Country Club. This tradition began in 1998 and continues today with the support of sponsors, Mark III Employee Benefits and Horace Mann Teachers’ Insurance.

The Asheboro City Schools Teacher of the Year will receive a $500 cash award and the Runner-Up will receive $250. The district winner will also move to the 2018-2019 regional competition in the fall.

Asheboro City Schools Teacher of the Year Nominees are: Molly Lyons, Asheboro High; Laura Johnson, Balfour Elementary; Michelle Harger, Charles W. McCrary Elementary; Christopher Golden, Donna Lee Loflin Elementary; Tressie Sargent, Guy B. Teachey Elementary; Leah Chase, Lindley Park Elementary; Bryan Gallimore, North Asheboro Middle; Kelly Hagood, South Asheboro Middle; and Erica Rosencrans, Early Childhood Development Center.
