School geography bee winners announced
Maurice Goldston, 7th grader at NAMS, and Emma Scott, 8th grader at SAMS each won their school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. The school-level Bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 21st annual National Geographic Bee.
School winners like Maurice and Emma, will now take a written test; up to 100 of the top scorers in the state will be eligible to compete in the North Carolina State Geography Bee on April 3rd.
