Neely is 2009 winner at NC Science and Engineering Fair

Morgan Neely, a sophomore at Asheboro High School participated along with other young scientists from throughout the state who displayed their projects at the NC Science and Engineering Fair at Meredith College on March 28th.
 
Neely placed second in the Senior Division Earth/Environmental Science Category for his project “The Impact of Dilution of the Ocean on the Rate at which Sea Ice Forms: An Inquiry into Global Climate Change”.
 
Neely was also awarded: American Meteorological Society "Certificate of Outstanding Achievement" for ability and creativity in an Atmospheric Science exhibit; NOAA's 2009 'Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award" presented to the student whose research has demonstrated the Principals and Technical Innovations that offer the greatest potential for an improved understanding of earth's dynamic processes; and I-SWEEEP 2009 "Outstanding Project to Participate in I-SWEEEP 2009". This award includes an expense paid trip in to the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, & Environment) Project Olympiad in Houston Texas April 15-20.
 
On March 27 Neely participated in the NC Student Academy of Science competition where he placed first in the high school Environmental Session. The first place award includes an invitation and registration to the annual meeting of the NC Academy of Science held in Asheville on April 4th.
