Hoops for Heart to be held April 16th
Asheboro City Schools invites the community to attend Hoops for Heart, a community wellness event on Friday, April 16th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm in the Asheboro High School gym. The goal is to promote physical activity, educate participants on the importance of exercise and good nutrition in reducing heart disease, raise awareness about community offerings for physical activity, and raise money for the American Heart Association.
Staff and students from North Asheboro Middle School and South Asheboro Middle School have been recruited to play a special basketball game. The school that raises the most money at the event will have 10 points added to their score at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Other activities include a Wellness Fair, audience participation activities during quarter and half-time breaks, concessions with healthy snacks and a special appearance by the Asheboro Copperheads mascot.
Event sponsors are Chick-fil-A, Communities in Schools, and Wal-Mart. All donations benefit the American Heart Association.
