Feedback on 2012-13 calendar sought
At the request of the Board of Education, a Calendar Committee of school stakeholders created a draft of a school calendar for the 2012-2013 school year. The committee consisted of representatives from the following: teachers; instructional assistants; parents; students; and, administrators.
The committee completed a draft calendar for public consideration. The calendar was created according to North Carolina General Statute 115C. As required by law:
· The calendar consists of: 180 instructional days
11 holidays
14 teacher workdays, and
10 vacation days,
for a total of 215 days in the school year.
· The calendar law also requires that the school year for students may not begin before August 25 and may not end after June 10.
