BOE seeks applicants for RCC trustee

As part of the governance structure of Randolph Community College (RCC), the Asheboro City Board of Education appoints two RCC trustees. Due to a recent resignation, the appointment of a new trustee is necessary.
 
Persons interested in applying for the Randolph Community College trustee position must complete an application including questions about what experiences have prepared you, why you are interested in applying, and what skills you can contribute to serve RCC. Applications are available at Asheboro City Schools (ACS) Central Office, 1126 South Park Street, or online and must be received at the Central Office by 5:00pm Wednesday, May 28th.
 
The Randolph Community College Board of Trustees is a volunteer, 12-member appointed Board. Members are appointed for staggered four year terms. The Governor of North Carolina appoints four, the Randolph County Board of Commissioners appoints four, and two are appointed by each of the school systems. The RCC Board of Trustees meets in formal session six times a year (third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November at 7:00pm)with committee meetings as needed on alternate months. The Board’s main function is to set policies for the College to assure RCC meets the diverse educational needs of the citizens of Randolph County.
 
A Nomination Committee appointed by the ACS Board chair will review the applications and select candidates to interview the week of June 2nd. The committee will make a recommendation to the ACS Board at their regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 12 at 7:30pm. The RCC appointment will be effective beginning with the July Board of Trustees meeting.
