AHS to host NCASC Convention, host families needed

Asheboro High School serves as the 2009-2010 President School of the NC Association of Student Councils, with AHS senior Kara Dough serving as president. On March 6-8 AHS will roll out the red carpet for the Student Council event of the year with approximately 400 students and advisors to attend the 84th NCASC Convention.
 
Convention plans include a student film festival at the Sunset Theatre and a service learning project at Victory Junction Camp.
 
would you like to take a supporting role? Asheboro High School is looking for host homes for student delegates and adult volunteers to assist with various tasks during the convention. We will need 150 host homes for the 300+ student delegates that will be attending.
In order to be a host family, you must be able to answer “yes” to all of the following questions:
* I live within 15 minutes driving distance of Asheboro High School.
* I can host at least two student delegates.
* I can provide transportation for delegates.
* I live in a non-smoking household.

Host families will also be responsible for feeding the delegates’ two meals, dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.  Other meals will be provided by the NCASC. The tentative schedule for host families is:

Saturday, March 6th
Pick up at AHS- 3:50 p.m.
Drop off at AHS- 6:30 p.m.
Pick up at Bicentennial Park- 10:30 p.m.

Sunday, March 7th
Drop off at AHS - between 8:45 & 9:10 a.m.
Pick up at AHS- 4:30 p.m.
Drop off at AVS Banquet Center- 6:30 p.m.
Pick up at AVS Banquet Center- 9:45 p.m.

Monday, March 8th
Drop of at AHS at between 8:30-8:45

Applications for host families can be found online on the AHS website at http://www.asheboro.k12.nc.us/ahs. Simply click on the link on the home page for NCASC State Convention 2010, or you may pick up an application in the main office of the high school.
