AHS students attended state convention
Eight students and two advisors from Asheboro High School attended the North Carolina Association of Student Councils State Convention, March 26-28. This year’s convention was held at Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville. “Connecting the STARS”is the theme of the NC Association of Student Councils for the 2010-2011 year.
Seniors Amanda Gibson and Megan Jarrell led a workshop entitled “How to Organize a Texting/Driving Awareness Campaign.” Juniors Addie Schoenberger and Stephanie Smith led a workshop entitled “TEAMWORK: How to Put the FUN into Fundraising.”
Seniors Amanda Gibson and Megan Jarrell were inducted into the North Carolina Association of Student Councils Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding service to student council at both the local and state level.
AHS was recognized as an NCASC Honor Council, based on its activities for the 2010-2011 year. This is the 19th year that AHS has been named an NC Honor Council.
The student delegates were: Amanda Gibson, Megan Jarrell, Cameron Kania, Chandler Kania, Stephanie McLeod, Addie Schoenberger, Stephanie Smith, and Marcus Staley. The advisors in attendance were Kim Lemons and Molly Lyons.
At the closing General Session, Asheboro High School was elected Central District Chair. Rising Senior Cameron Kania will serve as the school representative. Asheboro High School will host the Central District Conference in October 2011.
