AHS students attended conference
Nine students and advisor Kim Lemons from Asheboro High School attended the North Carolina Association of Student Councils Central District Conference on Saturday, December 11th. Grey’s Creek High School in Hope Mills was the host school for the conference.
Focused by the theme “Where Stars Align, Constellations Shine,” the day began with a general session featuring motivational speaker and comedian David Ferrell from Raleigh. His message encouraged the audience to grow as leaders so they could positively influence the students in their home school. Throughout the rest of the day the students attended workshop sessions on topics such as teambuilding, public speaking, fundraising and school spirit while their advisors attended their own training sessions.
During lunch a service project was also held, delegates made holiday cards for patients at local hospitals and nursing homes. The day ended with the closing session featuring the 82nd All American Chorus from nearby Ft. Bragg. The delegates also received information about the NCASC service project supporting the Victory Junction Camp for children with life-altering illnesses.
