AHS Band students earns honors
Many Asheboro High School band students have been recognized for excellence in the past month.
The following were selected for the Central District Honor Bands held at UNC-CH on January 24-25: Reuben Ahukanna, trombone; Nash Dunn, euphonium; A.J. Glasco, tuba; Michelle Leach, clarinet. A.J. Glasco has qualified to audition for the All-State Honor Band.
The following were selected for the Central Region Honor Jazz Bands held at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough on Feb. 8-9: Chris Trogdon and Reuben Ahukanna. Reuben qualified to audition for the All-State Jazz Band, which will be hosted by Asheboro High School on April 4-5.
The following were selected to the All-County Band to be held at Asheboro High School on March 6-7th: Marisol Romero, Eunice Lee, Sarah Elizabeth Blackwell, Andrea Young, flute; Rhiannon Coltrane, oboe; Annaliese Lawrence, bassoon; Michelle Leach, Kirstyn Harvey, Christine Kellum, Corbin Graves, Billy Post, Shelley Rose, clarinet; Chuck Hinson, bass clarinet; Alex Graves, Taylor Overman, trumpet; Eric Weiner, French horn; Reuben Ahukanna, Chris Araj, Chris Trogdon, Rikki Borchert, trombone; Nash Dunn, Evan Freemyer, euphonium; A.J. Glasco, Daniel Hadnott, tuba; Richard Trotter, Ashton Ridge, Jamie Maness, percussion.
The following were selected to the All-County Jazz Band to be held April 17-18 at Randleman High School: Kirby Micka, tenor sax; Alex Graves, trumpet; Chris Trogdon, Reuben Ahukanna, Rikki Borchert trombone; A.J. Glasco, bass; Richard Trotter, drums.
The following were selected to the All-Carolina Band, hosted by UNCG on February 14-16: Nash Dunn, euphonium; Annaliese Lawrence, bassoon; Sarah Elizabeth Blackwell, flute; A.J. Glasco, tuba.
