2008-09 Kindergarten information session April 8th
Asheboro City Schools will be hosting an information session for parents and children that will be entering kindergarten this fall. Children must turn five by October 16, 2008 to be eligible. The orientation meeting provides an excellent opportunity for parents and their children to visit their new school and to provide information on the upcoming screening.
Theinformation session will be held on Tuesday, April 8th at 7:00 pm at each of our elementary schools: Balfour School, 2097 North Asheboro School Road; Charles W. McCrary School, 400 Ross Street; Donna Lee Loflin School; 405 S. Park Street; Guy B. Teachey School, 294 Newbern Avenue; Lindley Park School, 312 Cliff Road. If you are uncertain which school your child will attend, please contact Jane Richburg or Brad Rice at 625-5104 for attendance boundary information.
Following the session, children will be scheduled for individual registration and screening for concepts, language skills, motor abilities, speech, and hearing. The information gathered during this screening will assist each school in preparation to meet the needs of all children. Parents will also need to bring a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate, shot records, picture ID of parent, and proof of your address (example: current power bill, water bill or property tax statement).
All students entering kindergarten are required to have a physical exam by a doctor before the first day of school. If your child’s physical is more than one year old, your child will need a new physical. Please contact your Primary Care Physician’s office or the Randolph County Health Department at 318-6255 to schedule an appointment. Physical exams will not be given at school.
